Muse Album and Vinyl Cover

Possibly one of the most bizarre and artistically brilliant album covers in the Alternative rock genre is Muse’s ‘The Resistance’ released on the 14th of September 2009,  and has gathered numerous platinum and gold Award from different companies. Muse often bring about bizarre and atmospheric sounds into their music and each of their song s are unique and have their own identity  The cover of the album can be interpreted that the ‘resistance’ is breaking the mold of normal colour and creating it’s own identity (a convention of what Alternative Rock groups want to do, to create their own identity within the music industry).

The vinyl version is similar but takes on a different art style, instead of of it’s blocky and stark colour segments, it takes on more a surrealism look, with what seems to be planets, with the bottom half to symbolize earth and the sea and the sky, with the top half to symbolize the vastness and space, with the walk way into a new world.

Honestly I love Muse’s albums, they are always so inventive and visually different and brilliant.

  1. It's good that you're posting so much research, but you do need to be thinking about how you're going to apply this - how does the material link to target audience? How are you going to develop these ideas in terms of links to your own work?
Also, don't forget to make sure that all your production documentation (treatment, storyboard, schedules etc.) is logged and uploaded by the end of the week.
